Weekly Summary

Last week due to nicer weather I had to adjust my training schedule a bit; I did 2 Team Group Rides on the weekend so I had to take Monday of this week off, in place of my regular Sunday. I also decided to see if I can start a part-time job during the week, however, it didn’t quite work out, so Wednesday I had only enough time to do my weight training and no Z2 ride. I squeezed 4 total training sessions on Thursday and Friday. I felt remarkably fit and recovered, although my form was starting to suffer a bit during the Friday weight training, so I had to back off some of the weights on the last couple of sets. Even so, I am still my strongest ever since I started doing weights this season!

I also rode my TT bike for the first time this season…it was interesting… and not very comfortable… I have a long way to go as far as adjusting back to the aggressive aero position. I will spend a little more time on the Cervelo P3 the coming weeks, with the idea to my 40min Z4 sessions in TT configuration.

On Saturday my legs did feel heavy, so for the Group Ride I decided to put into practice what I learned about riding in crosswinds last week. I took my fair share of turns at the front, however, I was very careful about my positioning and as you can see my average power is much much lower than last week. Although the winds started about half of what they were last Sunday, 30min into the ride it started snowing. After 15 more, snow was flying vertical, I got a real taste of what it is to race the Spring classics, I was soaked and muddy, the front of my helmet was iced over. We shortened the ride by about 10km (~6mi). I took the cover picture just as I was putting my bike inside. Gotta love Dutch weather.
